Mountain Biking: Many trails and look-out points on Mt. Tzouhalem, Mt. Maple, Mt. Prevost and Cobble Hill Mountain.  Great views and wildlife.

Fishing: Cowichan region is internationally renowned for it’s fly fishing. However Saltwater & Lake Fishing are outstanding here too. 

Fly Fishing- Best in the Cowichan River. Find rainbow, cutthroat or brown trout & steelhead. Trout best from Mar-Jun. Steelhead best from Dec-Mar. Famous for trophy-sized browns averaging 16-18”. Heavily regulated river. Check for in-season closures.

Saltwater Fishing- Cowichan Bay catch Chinook salmon (“spring”/”king” salmon), coho salmon, rock cod, lingcod, prawns & crab. Best fishing May-Oct & winter Chinook fishing. 

Lake Fishing- Most Cowichan lakes are well stocked with rainbow & cutthroat trout. Shawnigan Lake & Fuller Lake also known for their bass. Favoured time to fish is spring. Noteworthy lakes include Chemainus Lake, Fuller Lake, Dougan Lake, Shawnigan Lake & Cowichan Lake.
